Ideas for a character

here is a few of my ideas for the bestiary project. 

My ideas are pixie/ fairies, mermaid and some original mythological character ideas; a steam dragon or a magical tear drop that becomes a living being. 

Here is a few of my designs;

My idea for the fairy/pixie idea was maybe making either a garden fairy living along the urban area of Norwich streets sand parks, forced to adapt to city life. Or, further along  this idea on to the mythology of the Cornish Pixie, that has decided to move down to Norfolk. Anther idea is a fairy made out of the tear drops of a crying person, or an elemental being came to change the autumn to winter. My idea for this would be to look at the behavior of winged insects and animals such as birds and butterflies, but also looking to the way ballerinas dance for ideas of a soft elegant being, or maybe creating the evil fairy connotations and just looking at insects such as spiders, wasps and horse flies. it would be ideal to take some photos of Norwich on rather winter mornings, for example leafs and side roads that have been frosted, cars with frost patters, the Norwich market covered in snow. 

For the mermaid idea, or similar mythological creatures, I would plan to have them in very well know rivers- such as river wensum, the river that connects through the city center past the uni, the broads and Wittlinghamn. Maybe I could show her playing in the water and under the water, or to transform in to a human creature once on the shore. 

For this idea I thought about having a intro/title scene of some body crying, an a tear morphing into an Innocent tear drop being that decides to visit around the city.  With no objectives other than curiosity and wonder. 

This idea is based off Chinese dragons, adapted to being a dragon/dragons that are made out of steam, that become their own being and decided to adventure around the world/ 'Norwich', bringing good wisdom to unsuspecting Norfolk folks.  

I imagine a dragon forming out of steam from a cup of tea or coffee, once fully formed it decides to flee, visiting well known locations around the city. 

Personally i would find a dragon of this kind much more fun to animate, more interesting to play with shapes, moment  and more fun to experiment with textures and colour. 

I will further experiment with these ideas until i pick on character to further develop...
