editing backgrounds

As one of my shots is very long, I have decided to shorten My overall piece. Instead of having extra shots (title and credit sequence) I am going to stick to just three shots. I have decided to continue with the tea cup, church fence and church.

Recently visiting Biddy's tea room, I discovered a prop that I desired for my tea cup and took a photo on my Iphone Se. Using my phone, the proportion of the photo does not fit the standard screen size (1920x1080) . To fix this, I used Adobe Photoshop to make an illusion of the photo being taken in this screen size.
Original photo took on my Iphone

Using Photoshop, I used the quick selection tool to highlight around the tea cup then blurred the background using an Gaussian blur. To make the image appear bigger, using the eye dropper tool I selected the main colors and with a soft brush used the colours to add into the extended frame; which i then re did the section tool with the new added background and did anther blur. I then used the burn tool to give a sense of depth to the image. And used blur and smooth tool to smooth the images additions out.

It does look slightly artificial and 'cartoony' but the focus is on the tea cup which I have manged to keep clear.
